Just a quick rant from a single mother on mothers day, who is already feeling shit. Firstly; The DPB is NOT worth pregnancy and childbirth. It just isn’t. Secondly; the DPB doesn’t pay you to sit around and do nothing. You have a daughter Woodham; you must know that a child is hard work. Perhaps you don’t know. Perhaps you are of the class above us and can afford a live in nurse. Perhaps you have cut her off, as she is remarkably similar to those “drunken slappers” who deserve to get raped you have previously written about. Hopefully she has cut you off. But trust me; it’s fucking hard to raise a child, even more so when you are on your own. You work and work, for no recognition. And then there are days like today, which are some of the hardest for single mothers, where they have to just work some more, while everyone is being brought breakfast in bed. And then you get a chance to sit down and read the papers (single mothers can actually read, we aren’t illiterate idiots looking for a “bang and a biff”), we get yet another slap in the face. The DPB doesn’t come near to covering the cost of a child. Children are fucking expensive. And if you want to do anything to try and better yourself, you are barred at every opportunity. TIA has gone, Daycare is expensive, and I work 30 odd hours a week, for a net gain of about 30 dollars. I study at uni, I work hard for womens rights, and I love my child. So Woodham; go fuck yourself you bitch. I have to go back to work now. You be a good christian, with your doting husband. I will continue to raise my beautiful, intelligent, polite child. You pat yourself on the back that you have marginalized a ENTIRE sector of our society; an underprivileged, abused sector. Thank you for dismissing the sacrifices single mothers make, every day. Thank you for not standing up and trying to use your considerable following to bring back the Training Incentive Allowance, and to help single mothers. Thank you for calling women in abusive relationships pathetic and useless. But don’t worry, because there are those of us that are willing to fight, and keep fighting for the good of women and children.
All I ask is that you keep your promise; and NEVER write about this topic again.
Amen, sister.
